Chef Ted in a book
In 1980, after graduating from the University of Virginia, a friend and I found ourselves at 43 Pine Street, Nantucket, Massachusetts as he writes "waiting for a train or boat somewhere". By hook or crook we ended up travelling and working in Australia and Southeast Asia for almost two and a half years. Thirty odd years later, he has written The Screen Door, about his relationship with his then girlfriend, now wife. Although the names have been changed to protect the guilty, it is his view of our travels and the trip's relationship to his now wife.I am Jack in the story, and if you read it, you will see why at 55, I am vexed about what is next.
Book Description\
Publication Date: November 30, 2011
A coming-of-age love story that takes place between 1968 and
1983, based on the 43-year relationship between the author and his wife. It is a
tale hopefully reminiscent of ’The Wonder Years’, but with a healthy dose of the
strange and changing attitudes and events of the 1970’s. Finally it is a story
of letter writing, perseverance and travel to Australia and Southeast Asia when
the author and his future wife were apart for two and a half years.
